Walking & Cycling in scotland
With a wide variety of landscapes in which to wander, Stirling, Falkirk, Clackmannanshire & the Campsies will keep the walker happy for days.
The Ochil Hills and the Campsie Fells feature excellent hiking and walking paths, and while not as high as the Trossachs further north, command superb views over the surrounding valleys for those who climb to the top. The meandering Union and Forth & Clyde canals will take you through beautiful rural scenery as well as the sites of Scotland's industrial heritage.
To the south-west, the forest surrounding the Carron Valley Reservoir has trails through which to wander. The plethora of country parks around the area, including Plean near Stirling, Callendar Park, Muiravonside and Kinneil in and around Falkirk, Gartmorn Dam in Clackmannanshire, Culcreuch in Fintry and the Doune Ponds nature reserve, offer a variety of woodland and wetland walks. Allan Water flows through Bridge of Allan, Dunblane and Doune, providing gentler riverside strolls.
A little further afield, The Trossachs is a veritable haven for walkers and hill walkers with a stunning variety of all levels of walks to suit all tastes. Here you will find a superb natural environment of forest clad-hill, mountains, lochs, glens, sparkling rivers and fascinating natural history and wildlife, - and with routes to suit every taste and every standard of ability.
Enjoy cycling and motor biking too (routes and tracks web the whole area, from light to serious - and on the way providing not just breathtaking views and scenes but visits from the local wildlife - deer, squirrels, osprey and if you are lucky, the golden eagle, and many more) - just miles and miles of sensational quiet cycle routes.
Enjoy the extensive network of cycleways in Clackmannanshire. Or, for those seeking a more strenuous cycling challenge the Ochil Hills in Clackmannanshire, and the Campsie Fells to the south are both good locations for mountain biking.
Maybe you'd prefer that all your arrangements are made for you. Then we can help you to organize a plethora of cycling routes, and accommodate the serious off-roaders where we can help organize mountain biking activity breaks.
